Tweedia is a lesser-known member of the milkweed family taking the gardening world by storm. ‘Pure Blue’ elevates the milkweed experience with the purest, most vibrant blue color and a rounded, refined flower shape reminiscent of large forget-me-not blooms. The star-shaped flowers sit atop tall, sturdy stems, making them ideal for striking cut arrangements or as a standout in garden beds. The plants have a long flowering window and will reward careful deadheading with continuous flowering throughout the season. While generally easygoing in full sun and well-drained soil, they may benefit from gentle support to keep the sprawling stems upright, if that's important to you. Grown as an annual in most zones, tweedia may perform as a tender perennial in frost free locations. Note that like all milkweed, the stems contain a sap that is secreted when cut.
